Congrats on getting your product out. I'm "compiling", so I thought I'd surf teh interwebs & found yer blog.

In the words of a previous client after seeing a PIC microcontroller display a command line interface, "Oh, did you put Linux on there?"

I have no idea where that "R" came from.

Hi Finn,

The SL1 uses an 8-bit microcontroller with a little bit of onchip Flash memory, plus an additional memory chip for storing data.

It has no operating system, just firmware written in C. To make debugging a little easier we prototyped all of the image processing algorithms in C on a Windows machine and then ported them to the micro.

Are you getting into this stuff? And what does the R in FROSS stand for? "R as in 'Where is the L key?'"

> And finally, did I mention that it also has a sweet command line interface?

Do tell. What software does it run? Some sort of custom embedded something or other? Or did you guys use a stripped down a FROSS operating system of some kind? I'd actually be curious about the hardware it's running on (specifically kind of cpu and memory it uses) as well.
